2021 Rombauer Vineyards, “Proprietor’s Selection” Chardonnay, Carneros

Founded in 1980 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer, the winery produces acclaimed wines from the Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and the Sierra Foothills. It is still family-owned and widely lauded for the wines’ distinctive fruit-driven expressions.

Rombauer has been on The Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list three times. It has been in Spirits magazine’s annual poll, ranked in the Top Ten in 2004 and has been there every year since.

This wine displays toasty oak notes, along with lush tropical fruits (especially mango), and orange zest. It is fresh, vibrant, and lively, with a long memorable finish. It remains clean, pure and mouth-filling throughout. This generous wine shows the quality that one has come to expect of Rombauer.

The depth of this wine seems to cry out for pork: pork tenderloin, pork roast, pork shoulder, pork butt, or European-style spareribs (NOT Kansas City or Memphis style BBQ ribs, not that these choices would be a sin.)
