2021 Theorem Moon Mountain District Chardonnay

Owners Kisha and Jason Itkin have had much success with mountain fruit. With the success they have achieved on Diamond Mountain, they continued to pursue a site that produced crisp, higher acid wines with the acquisition of a second estate vineyard; a 34-acre property the straddles both Napa and Sonoma Counties, primarily in Sonoma’s Moon Mountain District. The property is located at 1800 feet elevation with volcanic soils and cool breezes from San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean. From this specific vineyard they are currently producing two whites, the Theorem Vineyards Moon Mountain District Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2021 Theorem Moon Mountain District is the second vintage of Chardonnay I have tasted from this producer. I was impressed by how well made and delicious this wine was in 2020. The 2021 Chardonnay is another stunning and sexy wine from Theorem. The color is pale yellow that glistens in the glass. The aromas are captivating and lure you in with sweet pear, lemon curd, a hint of tangerine, lime zest and a whiff of fresh cut herbs. The palate has a lovely mouth-feel with layers of citrus fruit. Notes of lemon, mandarin orange and a chalky minerality are softly laced through the mid-palate. This gives the wine lift and keeps the Chardonnay fresh and focused leading to a long delicious finish. This beautifully made Chardonnay is perfect to enjoy now but will age gracefully up to 10 years.
