2022 Josemeyer Le Kottabe Riesling, Alsace

In the village of Wintzenheim, Alsace is Domaine Josemeyer. Hubert Meyer founded Josemeyer in 1963. In 1966 Hubert’s oldest son Jean, converted the 69 acre vineyard to organic and biodynamic farming. Céline and Isabelle, Jean’s two daughters manage the estate today.

Le Kottabe Riesling is part of the Josemeyer’s “Artist Series” of wines. The vines are 45 years old and are planted on alluvial and gravel sub-soils around the towns of Wintzenheim and Turckheim. This 100% Riesling cuvée has a yellow shadow with aromas of flint and wildflowers. It has a delicate approach and mouth-feel with a core of lemon oil, finely chiseled chalk and white peach skins. It finishes clean with vibrant fresh acidity throughout.
