The Luca Pastor VS is a well-crafted and distinguished red that can easily compete with the acclaimed wines from Ribera del Duero. Made from 100% Old Vine Tempranillo from Toro in Morales de Toro in the Zamora area, it is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels. Production is modest with only 8,768 bottles produced. The aromas are captivating out of the glass revealing black plum compote, blueberries, barrel notes of toasted oak and vanilla, sweet pipe tobacco and a dusting of dark chocolate shavings. The palate is a Spanish wine lovers delight…full bodied, toasty character, soft tannins, creamy core and just the right amount of acidity. The structure is well balanced leading to a lengthy and delicious finish. The Lucas Pastor VS will make lovers of Tempranillo from Spain smile from ear to ear, which is exactly what this wine did to me!
