2022 Lynmar Estate Susanna’s Vineyard Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
Lynmar Estate is situated on a unique and picturesque site with rolling vineyards bordered by the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed. The vineyard, with vines over forty years old, 15 clones of Pinot Noir and 4 clones of Chardonnay has an array of canopy and rootstock combinations that yield exquisite fruit. The Estate's state-of-the-art, gravity flow winery and caves are an ideal environment for making and aging ultra-premium wine. The gorgeous borders that surround the vineyards attract beneficial insects and hummingbirds, providing a natural barrier to pests.
The Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from Lynmar Estate have long been a favorite of the Chicago Wine Press International tasting team. Susanna’s Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay checks all the boxes for Chardonnay lovers. The wine is generous on the palate and a well-made offering from winemaker Pete Soergel. The color opens with golden and yellow hues. The aromas are lovely, tropical with citrus zest, fresh cut apple, baked croissant and buttery popcorn. The acidity is noteworthy and precise. The palate is laced with juicy pineapple, orange curd and crème brulee, layered with a creamy texture, a hint of oak and spice on to a long generous finish. This Chardonnay will hold up to your favorite white fish in a decadent creamy sauce.
