2022 Trisaetum Ribbon Ridge Estate Riesling
In 2003, James and Andrea Frey purchased 22 acres of a steep and rocky parcel of land five miles from McMinnville, Oregon designated as the Coast Range Estate in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. They would establish Trisaetum vineyards and winery on this location and two years later purchased a 28-acre vineyard property in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Their first vintage was in 2007.
This location dates back 40 million years with rolling benchlands. The sub-soils consist of marine sediments of high-quartz sandstone and weathered bedrock. This wine unveils a pale yellow hue with soft aromas of crushed minerals and flint. There is a wealth of stone fruits with macerated peaches, melon, white nectarine and dried apricots highlighted with a hint of fresh acidity in the framework. The finish is clean and well-balanced. This wine has a hint of natural residual sugar similar to a Spatlese category of wine.
