2023 Alexana Pinot Gris Hillsides, Willamette Valley

Alexana Winery was born out of Dr. Madaiah Revana’s love for the great wines of Burgundy. In the spring of 2005, Dr. Revana began a search for both the ideal region and an experienced winemaker with the goal of producing Pinot Noirs that could rival those from Burgundy. His search ended in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where he met Lynn Penner-Ash. Alexana is named after Dr. Revana’s daughter, Alexandra. Tresider Burns joined the Alexana Winery team in May of 2022.

The Alexana Hillsides Pinot Gris has much similarity to some of the beautiful wines of Alsace with a creamy texture and delicate weight. Light to medium yellow in color with a lovely nose of fresh cut peaches, green apples, Bartlett pears and a touch of baking spices and nuts. The palate is creamy with perfect weight and fresh minerality. Medium acidity that is crisp, yet balanced leading to a long soft finish. This is a great Pinot Gris that may be hard to find but worth seeking out.
