2023 Dutton Goldfield Shop Block Pinot Blanc, Russian River Valley

This wine heralds from Green Valley within the Russian River Valley. Fifth generation grower Steve Dutton formed a partnership with winemaker Dan Goldfield in 1998. During his college years Dan became an avid admirer of the wines of Burgundy. As an outdoor enthusiast, he found his way to California pursuing chemistry research and later graduated with a master’s degree in enology from the University of California at Davis. Dan brought awareness of his winemaking talents crafting wines at Schramsberg, La Crema and Hartford Court before co-founding Dutton-Goldfield.

The crystalline pale yellow appearance and enchanting spring floral bouquet reveal the pleasure to come from this white. Delicately textured throughout, this Pinot Blanc is extremely well balanced and expertly crafted offering an abundance of freshly picked orchard fruits. Within the core are dried apricots, mandarin orange peels, beeswax and peach blossoms that ooze from the glass. The edges are rounded with a delicate layer of almond paste. The flavors continually burst to the forefront and continue into the long, vibrant and inviting finish. Congrats to Dan Goldfield and his team for this exemplary effort.
