2023 Merry Edwards Dach Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
The Merry Edwards DACH opens with a beautifully subtle yet inviting nose. It reveals a clean, delicate lift of strawberry, cherry, cranberry, raspberry, and a soft halo of rose petals. It’s crystal clear in the glass, showing a classic ruby tone with medium legs that hint at its light, elegant frame. It has all the character and complexity of Anderson Valley.
On the palate, the wine leans toward off dry with a gentle, almost airy acidity and soft silky tannins that make the texture incredibly approachable. The fruit carries through with clarity: bright cherry and cranberry up front, layered with deeper tones of date and fig that add a quiet richness giving just enough freshness to keep things lifted.
Despite its light body and low alcohol, the wine is surprisingly nuanced, perfectly balanced, expressive without being loud, and confident in its subtlety. The finish lingers nicely, leaving behind a gentle echo of red fruit and that minty whisper.
Overall, this is a complex, finely tuned Pinot Noir that rewards attention but never demands it; graceful, thoughtful, and effortlessly harmonious.
